More Swaps

I've been looking at the state of my dishcloths lately and the abundance of cotton I've collected and thinking about getting onto making myself some dishcloths.  Then, at the most appropriate moment, a dishcloth swap pops up on TNN.  I'm fairly safe posting here as I don't think anybody really reads this yet - I'm not really advertising my existance.

Anyway I've knitted number one (yes I'm putting myself on the spot and doing two *rolls eyes*) but I want to crochet the edges in a contrasting colour so I've not finished yet.  I researched quite a few patterns before knitting number two (I actually did number one before I had the names of my recipients and have picked the recipient with the least amount of self info to give it to - the other one had lots of info so I could personalise it a bit more).  I tried a few crochet pattersn but gave up - that will have to wait until I have time to relax over it - not a swap situation.  But I wanted something a bit different from a knitted square and this one was perfect.

I love it.  It's perfect with variegated yarn and I plan to make a few more for myself.  I had to start it around four times before I got the hang of it.  I learned provisional cast on, kitchener stitch and got to revisit wrap and turns which I think I did with Zoe's Summerlin PJ's.  It's different, it's cute and it's lovely and soft.  I hope my recipient likes it.  I'd like to get a scrubbie ready to go with it too - so hopefully it can get sent out on Monday. Then I'll focus on the much dreaded crochet edging  on the other one.  I won't "Publish" this until I get the photos up of that.

Update...

So I made the matching scrubbie yesterday in an hour - but I forgot to photograph it so will wait until my recipient uploads photos. (Edit - she liked it *grin*)

I also finished the edging on the other cloth...

... and I finished the other tribble too!!!!!

These are quick and fun to knit up but I don't have a use for them myself - I find they don't really scrub very well.  I've decided I'm better off using the scrap yarn I have for dolls clothes.  But they were fun to make for the swap.
