Is THIS an office or a JUNKYARD?

So I've just applied for a job that I really, really want.  It's a training position for Microsoft applications - right up my alley and something I actually investigated getting into a few years ago - and then never went any further with.  Problem - it's based from home.  Wouldn't usually be a problem except that it will be training AT HOME, from my home office which is currently a throughfare for all in sundry, a racetrack for two preschoolers, the locality of the beer fridge and the general duming ground for anything vaguely paper-ish.  It's a right off that I would be downright embarrassed to bring visitors in - especially ones I don't know.  So I've been wracking my brains about what to do about it.  Move this piece of furniture, move that one.  In the end I've decided to start easy - remove all the little things that clutter it up and find a new home for them.  Everything that's not needed on a day to day basis goes.

Update:
So I cleared it all out to the occasional chorus of "Oh that looks pretty mummy" from Zoe and then "Awesome" from Marty.  And it certainly is looking a whole heap betterl  Of course the rest of the house is littered with office junk!!!

Noted down a few things that need to be made such as covers for things but with my sewing machine out of action for a bit they'll remain "Things To Do" for a little bit.  I may cut them out ready to go but I'm not going to rush into it - I have WAY too many cut out projects still waiting to be sewn after years of sitting to put myself in that position again too quickly!!!  I have started to make two noticeboards for a newly blank wall.  I had the canvases and after decided what colours to use in the office I remembered a great piece of fabric that would look really good.  I matched it with some ribbon and will have them ready and hung pretty soon.

I was going to sew the joins with buttons and will still do so should they not work without but they seem to be working quite well as is.

That's it for today.  Will have to wait for the works like the curtains, covers etc, when my sewing machine gets back to me but things are already looking so much better - onto the rest of the house *rolls eyes*. (I also have my eye on a tute for a blotter and journal cover - they would look great together with a mouse pad and my filing units covered in the same fabric.  Still lots of things I CAN and WILL do to sort it out but think I'd better change my focus for the rest of this weekend anyway!
