A successful weekend

In spite of Marty turning up and interrupting my process I think I'm managing to get a lot done this weekend.  Poor guy is sick of working and who can blame him when he's out every day doing the same thing.  Yesterday he came home complaining of HATING his work and today I need to make an effort to make him feel a bit better.  Pork roast for dinner seems to be a good call (although we got a ham out of the freezer last night - but that will last if I hunt down the ham bag - actually I think I'll knock one up on the sewing machine.  And perhaps a nice apple crumble to warm him up - plus a super clean house would help appease him.  He despises me crafting - mostly I think because he's out working while I "play".  Fair enough I guess.

Whipping through a few WIP's as I transfer them from the mess I came across a skirt I had been making for a sister of one of Zoe's friends a year or so back.  I had completed one but I have two in the works, one of which only needed elastic.

The one I actually completed for the friends big sister.

Zoe's over the moon!  I'd made her one of the same material but of course she's long since outgrown it and the material is so thin that it had a great big hole in it anyway!  I didn't bother with ric rac like on the last one.  These are simply for mucking around in and rather than have them sit around waiting I thought I'd just throw them together and be done with them.  I have enough on my plate.

I also knocked up a bag for my Niddy Noddy from a stashed but unallocated piece of fabric.  I love this fabric but didn't have any specific plans for it.  I'd had one idea but the recovering of a stool isn't up very high on my To Do list and it's a bit silly to save fabrics for projects I don't even know I'm going to complete.  This seemed like the better option.

On Wednesday having visited Spotlight I had some time to kill before my job interview (fingers crossed, fingers crossed) so I popped into the Wairau Park Hospice Shop to have a look around.  I spotted the "Hungry Hungry Hippo" game for $5 but restrained myself from buying it.  On Friday I found it in the Orewa Hospice Shop for $3 - we now own it!!!  It was missing quite a few plastic balls but I also found a bag of small marbles just the right size for $1.  But the problem with my kids is that even when they have somewhere to put things they still manage to leavc everything strewn across the floor waiting for Mummy Dearest to pick it up.  So I TRY TRY TRY to make sure everything has it's place so that I can continue to teach them how easy it is to keep everything in it's place.  Today I hunted down a piece of material suitable for a bag and although this was far too lightweight really I cannot think of anything else to do with it - so that settled it's now a bag for Hungry Hungry Hippo with a matching marble bag!

Afternoon interrupted by an extended family adventure but I did manage to mend four items too so combined with some continuing WIP's I'm feeling rather pleased with myself.

Daddy dinner put off until tomorrow night as the adventure was his reward and I don't have the time now - will do that tomorrow.
