I've been hard at work on my WIP's without finishing anything so today's post is an IG - or instant gratification - project posted just to keep me motivated. It's not much, just something I promised Zoe I'd do ages ago - a basket for her bike. She's taking it to Kindy today and I wanted to bring it up to scratch as it's starting to look a little worn. The doll carrier had broken off and according to Zoe the bike is "ruined". It's only a little pink ribbon but I've tied it back on - it will need bigger washers later to fix it properly. And a basket. It's a bag I've had for ages - the handles fell off but the basket/bag is still in good nick. I knew it would fit perfectly but just hadn't gotten around to attaching the straps - I was going to use clips. But in a rush today I simply tied the ribbons to it and around the bike frame and added a pink bow to the front with what was left of the ribbon.
"Wow!" was Zoe's response. Couldn't have hoped for more enthusiasm than that!
This afternoon has been like a summers day so I started to do over our overgrown garden. Unlike my complete history with gardens I'm focusing on one step at a time so have only turned over a small part of the garden to start with.
Today Zoe and I planted sugar snap peas (which were supposed to expire in 2007 so I have no clue if they'll grow) and lettuces - a whole packet of them! Conversation went like this...
"Mummy can I put the seeds in the dirt?"
"No honey because they are very small and I only want to put a few in here. Oh, oh, oh...."
That last part was me slipping - for about the 4th time - down the hill and scattering the WHOLE packet of seeds into the ditch of dirt I'd just made. I should have given it to Zoe who probably would have only put in half the pack!!!!
We've still got celery and parsley plants growing from last year which I'll leave in and if the weather is nice tomorrow I'll dig a bit more and put some tomatoes in - probably at the other end. I also want to do pots for courgettes and apple cucumbers with the potting mix I have - not sure if I'll be able to stretch to two each so will have to pick one or the other - may have to put the rest in the garden next to the tomatoes.
