The Reward Chart

Finally a crafty post.  I haven't had time to do much lately and when I have I've pretty much used the time to sleep off this nasty bug that's been sticking around.  However I really wanted to do something crafty today and what better way than to combine it with a need in our household.  My lovely 4 and a half year old needs some boundaries set.  I adore her and she is a beautiful girl.  She's also willfull and highly independant.  We initially had a "Butterfly Board" with a magnetic butterfly that advanced from flower to flower with rewards being given on the big flowers.  It worked really well but all the rewards were of monetary value so this time they are a little more to do with time and general priveleges.

The "Fairy Rules and Behaviours" are things like saying "please" and "thank you", sharing with her brother and saying "yes mummy" when asked to do something.  I particularly like the one that gets her to put away one lot of toys before she gets another out.  For each behaviour followed she recieves an allocation of "Fairy Tokens" - first we put a sticker (will have to get fairy ones I think) next to each day and then at the end of the day she will be given the corresponding number of "Fairy Tokens".  The "Fairy Tokens" can be redeemed for priveleges.  One token equals 15 minutes of TV time or PC time.  Two can be redeemed for an extra bedtime story.  Three is 30 minutes at a playground.  And so on.  Hopefully it will teach her about the value of priveleges.
