Ravelry

I LOVE Ravelry.  If you belong to this website check me out at http://www.ravelry.com/projects/NecessaryDecadenc.

My queue of projects to do is always in excess of five pages long and I've just taken to sorting my projects by MP = Major Projects, IG - Instant Gratification Projects (or projects I can do in under a week), and Dreaming = I'm dreaming that one day I'll be able to move these up into one of the other two categories.

Handmade butterfly and flower buttons from polymer clay available in my Felt shop http://www.felt.co.nz/browse/user/necessarydec.
Who would have thunk it - me knitting.  My mum was a kintter.  Most of my dolls clothes were knitted and I distinctly remember this one hat - a bonnet with a pony tail of yarn.  Funny what you remember.  I have never had the patience.  I've always been a sewer - so much quicker because you're not making the fabric.  Which is rather funny considering I've always been someone who wants to go back to the source.  I did porcelain doll making years ago and I've been itching ever since to make a mould for the greenware rather than just painting the greenware - now that I'm knitting I'm already thinking about rearing sheep - or alpacas - I say thinking because I think we really need to have our own place before I go stocking it with animals!!!

At 13 I tried to knit jumpers for Dad and Rosemary - my stepmum number 1 - for Christmas.  I got halfway through each of them and proceeded to wrap each up with wool and needles and a tag saying "Do-It-Yourself-I'm-Sick-Of-It Kit".  The thought was there.  Nana (Rosemary's mum) finished Dad's - Rosemary's got frogged and used for a thousand other little things - none of which was a knitting project.  I pretty much stuck to scarves after that.

When I was pregnant with Logan I had a four week hospital stay because they thought Logan was going to arrive early - he didn't.  My friend - a recent convert to knitting - brought me in patterns, needles and wool.  I made preemie booties and a hat and almost finished a little preemie cardie.  When I got out of hospital I think that subconciously I thought if I ever finished that jacket he would arrive - it's in my WIP file and I plan to finish it for one of Zoe's dolls LOL  Next project I promise!  (Note, at this stage that's NOT the jacket in the pic next to this photograph) I still wasn't "hooked" (ha ha - you'll see why that's funny...) but I really wanted to try crochet!  Not so good at that but it got me thinking on knitting again and slowly I started pulling together bits and pieces I wanted to do.  When I got onto Ravely it was the beginning of a love affair - one that's still threatening to destroy my relationship with DP LOL.
